The 2022 MLS SuperDraft came and went on Tuesday afternoon, and Orlando City made three selections to add to their upcoming season’s roster.
Unlike last year when the Lions moved up to the number eight pick, the team stayed pat with their three selections this time around.
With those selections, Orlando walked away with forward Jack Lynn from Notre Dame with the 18th overall pick.
The Lions also selected defender Nathan Dossantos from 2021 National Champion Marshall at No. 46 and capped their draft by selecting Nick Taylor from right in their own backyard at UCF, as the No. 74 overall pick.
Here’s what Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi had to say about Jack Lynn and Nathan Dossantos
“Yeah we’re very satisfied, we thought that it was a great draft considering we had number 18. You don’t expect to have the guy that you wanted at that position, so considering that alone, we’re very happy with the draft.”
“Nathan is very technical. We think he can play in different positions in the backline and different formations. We think him being used to a system that we think we could end up playing this year can help.”
Head Coach Oscar Pareja also commented on Thursday on the club’s draft picks
“We feel that we got what we wanted for now. It’s just giving them a good opportunity and a greater scenario so they can perform well.”
